Item Identification & Description
This is a late 20th-century Chinese decorative porcelain pedestal bowl with integrated arched handles. The form is rectangular with gently flared sides, standing on a short pedestal foot. The surface features Kutani/Satsuma-inspired multi-panel designs — purple grape clusters, red and purple peonies, gold butterflies, and stylized foliage — separated by gilt borders with a celadon-green rim patterned with “cash-coin” motifs. The underside bears a modern printed mark:

For Decorative Use Only, Do Not Use for Food, Made in China

This indicates it was intended strictly for display and produced during the 1980s–2000s for Western décor markets.

The decoration and form imitate Japanese Kutani and Satsuma export wares, popular from the late 19th century onward, but the production is definitively Chinese. Many giftware importers during the late 20th century marketed similar pieces, sometimes branded (Andrea by Sadek, Bombay Company), but yours is unbranded. The “decorative use only” label reflects the likelihood of leaded enamels, making it unsuitable for food use.
